Zustand technisch
The car starts easily and shifts smoothly. It handles well on the road, providing a stable and comfortable ride, even on rough surfaces. The idle speed is a bit high during cold starts but decreases as the engine warms up. The car has traveled 186,000 miles, which is approximately 29,000 kilometers. It has been consistently serviced at Mercedes dealerships throughout the years. The car comes with a factory-installed air conditioning and heating package, but its functionality is uncertain and may require inspection and maintenance to ensure proper operation.

Zustand Interieur
The blue leather interior is in excellent original condition. Even the fabric floor mats are remarkably well-preserved considering their age. There are some cracks in the clear coat on the wood panel of the center console, and a few cracks on the upper part of the instrument panel have been repaired.
-
Zustand Exterieur
The paint finish is glossy and in great condition, and the body is straight. There are a few small scratches and some stone chips. The front bumper has a couple of minor indentations behind the license plate area, which can be seen in the photos. Thanks to the dry climate on the West Coast of the USA, the car has never had any rust issues. It comes with a brand new dark blue soft top made from original Mercedes fabric, which was installed by a specialist in California before the car was transported to Sweden. The car also includes a hardtop in the same color as the car. The aluminum wheels are in excellent condition.

Zustand gesamt

Fakten zum Modell
Starting from the fall of 1971, a coupe variant called the C107 was also available. It had a significantly longer wheelbase but shared the design language of the open-top model. The coupe model was discontinued in 1981.
When the R107, internally coded, took shape, Mercedes' chief designer Karl Wilfert was responsible for the design. The design was entirely new and updated, yet it maintained the tradition of clean, straight lines established by its predecessor, the Mercedes-Benz W113 (often referred to as the Pagoda). Karl Wilfert's design not only looked good but also considered safety requirements, especially those emerging in the United States. The new SL was approximately the same size as the Pagoda but weighed nearly 400 kilograms more, highlighting its robust and solid construction. For instance, the windshield frame was made extra strong to avoid the need for a roll bar.
The R107 model was a significant sales success for Mercedes. Despite being a high-priced car in its time, it sold close to 240,000 units over a production period of just over 18 years. Many of these were sold to the American market, and at least one of them was driven by Bobby Ewing in the classic TV series Dallas. After this, the car model became colloquially known as the "Dallas moped" in Sweden.
