Beschreibung
The first owner, a woman born in 1905, cared for the car meticulously and kept it throughout her lifetime. After her passing, ownership transferred to her son, who continued to store the car in a garage. There it remained well protected until 2020, when it was brought back to life. Before returning to the road, the car was serviced by a workshop that inspected and addressed the items necessary for roadworthiness. During this process, the vehicle also became exempt from periodic inspections under Swedish regulations.
The car is accompanied by extensive documentation that provides a fascinating insight into its history. The original sales invoice from Wolraths Bil remains with the car, showing that it was ordered with additional rubber floor mats and seat covers. Also included are historic inspection reports, proof of Tectyl rustproofing treatment, service receipts, registration documents, and the original Mazda dealer folder containing the owner’s manual and accessories catalogue. As a charming detail, the original Japanese instruction tag for the ventilation controls is still attached to the dashboard control by a piece of wire. The original tool kit and a Mazda-branded bulb kit are also included.
The car must be regarded as exceptionally well preserved and remarkably close to its original specification. Details such as clips, brackets, and other factory-installed components remain in place, and the car is complete right down to its desirable chrome hubcaps, which are now extremely difficult to source.
To ensure continued reliability, several important components have been replaced in recent years. These include the radiator, front brake calipers, rear brakes, parts of the exhaust system, all ignition components, as well as various service items and filters. All instruments, gauges, and functions operate as intended, and the car presents as both reliable and ready to drive. A selection of spare parts collected over the years is also included in the sale.
The current owner, a dedicated Mazda enthusiast, chose to repaint the car when the original finish had begun to lose its lustre after decades of use. The work was carried out with the aim of preserving the car for the future rather than altering its character. In recent years, it has been used only for occasional summer outings and has continued to be garage stored. Annual servicing has been carried out and all work carefully documented. As is common with many older vehicles, the occasional drop of oil may appear beneath the engine after extended periods of standing, but otherwise the car presents as an exceptionally well-preserved and genuine example of a Mazda 1300 from the marque’s early years in Sweden.

This Mazda is a true time-warp survivor. Overall, it remains in exceptionally good condition and offers a remarkably authentic glimpse of what the car would have been like when it left the showroom in June 1974.
Japanese cars from the 1970s are becoming increasingly rare, and examples preserved to this standard are seldom encountered today. This is a unique opportunity to own and enjoy a model that has become a genuine rarity on today’s classic car market.

Fakten zum Modell
Today, only 26 examples of the Mazda 1300 remain registered in Sweden, with just a handful believed to be roadworthy and actively used.
The Mazda 1300 was also available with a rotary Wankel engine in certain export markets, where it was marketed as the Mazda R100. Over the years, many 1300s, 818s, and 929s have been converted to rotary power by enthusiasts, a trend that has also found its way to Sweden.
