Zustand technisch
"It starts easily and runs smoothly. All technical aspects seem to function well, including the charming turn signal arrows. Newly renovated brakes all around. The undercarriage looked very good. The engine drips a bit of oil, as older cars often do. A thorough check and service are recommended, as the car hasn't been driven frequently in recent years."

Zustand gesamt
This vehicle is thoroughly in a very fine condition. Both the manufacturer and the model are historically significant in the world of motoring, with a high collector's appeal from the era bridging the 1920s and 1930s when Europe also received its first mass-produced cars. A delightful little classic and a joy-bringer.

Fakten zum Modell
By the early 1900s, Fiat had evolved into a significant industrial conglomerate, with ventures in shipbuilding, aviation, aircraft engines, and railroads. Their first car was the 3 1/2 HP, of which 20 units were produced between 1899 and 1900. By 1916, the company established the Lingotto factory, then Europe's largest car plant, renowned for its rooftop test track. Throughout the 1920s, Fiat acquired several of its Italian competitors.
Much like in other countries during the transition from the 1920s to the 1930s, there was a shift towards producing small, affordable cars catered to an emerging working and middle class. The design of these cars was compact, ideal for navigating the narrow streets of urban cities and for short-distance travel.
In 1936, Fiat introduced the Fiat 500, affectionately known as the 'Topolino.' This model, along with its successors, holds an enduring place in automotive history. However, even before the Topolino, Fiat was already recognized as a successful manufacturer of practical small cars. The model 508 Balilla was unveiled at a car show in Milan in April 1932 and was produced from 1932-1939. Initially, it had a 995 cc side-valve four-cylinder engine with 20 hp, a three-speed transmission, and either a covered or open two-door body. Fiat was technologically advanced for its time, implementing hydraulic brakes on all wheels and a 12-volt system. By 1933, an S-version with a stronger engine was released. In 1934, it received a four-speed gearbox, a more robust engine, and a revamped body. By 1937, a more modern body design was introduced, along with an optional longer L-body. In total, around 170,000 units of the 508 Balilla were manufactured from 1932-1939.
