"Affordable and well-preserved, with an impressive overall presence. Riding in a Daimler Double Six feels both uniquely special and exceptionally dignified, even though its peers in the automotive world had surpassed the model in performance and innovation when it was new."

Description

Delivered new in April 1993 to Wilhelm Oelfke in Wedemark, Germany, by J.A.R Autohaus in Hannover. A second owner in Germany followed in 1996 before the car was imported to Sweden in March 2002. It has been serviced according to schedule and records in Germany, and the high level of care and documentation continued in Sweden under a total of two owners.

The current owner purchased the car in 2013 and has driven approximately 500 kilometers since. It has always been stored in a dry, heated garage when not in use, both in summer and winter. The car presents a solid and genuine impression, with its latest approved inspection completed on 2024-11-06.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The V12 runs smoothly and quietly, with seamless gear shifts and a firm yet responsive road presence. Regular use and attentive maintenance are the best formula for preserving the condition and functionality of the engine, drivetrain, and the partially gas-hydraulic suspension system inspired by Citroën.

  • Interior condition

Elegant black leather interior paired with beautiful classic walnut panels and foldable tables in the same wood, all in glossy and polished excellent condition. The climate control blows efficiently cold air when desired, and all electrical equipment functions perfectly, except for the right front side window. The central locking for that door also does not engage, likely due to an issue with the wiring between the door and the frame. Two keys are included.

  • Exterior condition

Beautiful original paint in the best color for always making a great impression in any light – silver metallic. Older Pirelli P7 tires with good tread on pristine, undamaged original wheels.

  • General condition

A generally fine and fresh overall impression, surpassing most youngtimer Jaguar and Daimler V12s that have passed through this auction house. Perhaps even the best in its class and model series.

Facts about the model

The final interpretation and iteration of the XJ model, which first debuted in 1975. Here, in its most luxurious form as the Daimler Double Six, featuring the best and ultimately the last V12 engine from the brand.

The XJ40 platform is considered by many to be the last true Jaguar. After this, the era of Ford, Tata, and a different time began. Yet, the brand has managed to endure, albeit somewhat compromised by today’s vulgar designs, electric propulsion, and branding strategists.
