"The car is inspection/MOT free for life and has undergone renovation work during the past years, with a new leather interior, mats, brakes, clutch, and petrol pump."

Description

The car is owned by an enthusiast who has put in a lot of work over the last three years, and it only needs minor fixes and repairs to become really nice; the only reason for selling is family illness and a lack of free time. It has new leather seats and carpets, and the interior is clean and fresh. The only thing that needs to be replaced are the door cards, which have speaker holes, and the varnish on the wooden trim near the windscreen, which has lifted. The car runs and drives well, but the gear selector is worn and needs to be replaced; otherwise, nothing stands out.

The exterior is clean and tidy, with an older repaint and no visible rust; the floor, sills, and wheel arches have been welded; and the chrome work and wheels are in good shape. It will never require another inspection or MOT because it is over 50 years old.
Classic and lovely body that is highly sought after by today's collectors. It is one of Mercedes' best-looking post-war body designs.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

It starts easily and drives, but the gearbox linkage is worn, so changing gears is sloppy. The engine bay needs to be cleaned and a tidy up, but there are no signs of leaks. The purchase also includes a set of European lights. Recently replaced clutch and master cylinder, fuel pump, renovated brakes and new brake cylinders

  • Interior condition

The interior is nice and clean, with newly reupholstered red leather, new mats, and a clean headliner. The varnish on the wooden trim near the windscreen has begun to lift, the rear parcel leather trim is worn, the steering wheel has cracked, and the center of the steering wheel has a rip (see photos).

  • Exterior condition

It has an older repaint and is still in good condition, with nice chrome work. The floor, sills, and wheel arches have all had welding work done on them at some point in the past, most likely when the car was painted. The rubber seals that surround the car are worn.

  • General condition

It's a true classic that collectors seek; it's in usable and running condition, has a nice appearance, and only requires a few minor repairs and fixes to be really nice.
